Finding Your “Forever Home” Body
For years, I chased a body I thought I should have. In my 20s and 30s, I created an ideal through extreme measures—rigid diets, endless planning, strict rules. I believed I was destined for a life of spreadsheets, calorie counts, and structuring every day around food, instead of letting life flow around me. Even at my leanest, I was deeply insecure. Hitting a number on the scale or following the “perfect plan” never gave me the confidence or peace I thought it would.
Over time, I realized something important: the goal isn’t a number. It’s not about chasing perfection or trying to fit some idealized version of yourself from your 20s. I started telling my clients what I had learned the hard way: the real goal is to find the holy grail of life, not the holy grail of a number.
In my mid-to-late 30s, I did what so many women do: I overhauled my life completely. That meant slowing down, letting go of impossible standards, and choosing to make peace with my body. I started chasing sunsets more than I chased a physique goal that was always moving, always just out of reach.
In the last ten years, I’ve seen more of life than I ever did inside the gym. I’ve experienced joy, travel, celebration, and connection—and through it all, I’ve stayed the same size clothes through every season of my health chaos. When I joke about the “layer of life,” it’s not me saying I went backwards. It’s me saying I chose to layer life into my body—to show up fully for the moments I love, rather than waiting for some distant “someday” to live.
Another key piece of this shift: I did not want my young daughter to watch her mother “diet her life away” as if restriction, obsession, and guilt were badges of honor. I wanted her to see that health, self-care, and vitality could coexist with joy, freedom, and living fully. That my life wasn’t ruled by numbers or rules, but by presence, choice, and love for myself and my family.
I learned that small wins add up to big things. Listening to your body, honoring your energy, moving when it feels good, celebrating without guilt—these are the moments that compound into lasting results. Health, confidence, and vitality aren’t about perfection; they’re about intentional living.
That’s exactly what SHIFT is about. Inside SHIFT, I reveal my Forever Home Blueprint. Each week, we’ll explore two aspects of fitness and life after 40, and spend time reflecting on the next phase of your health, confidence, and joy. It’s about progress, not perfection, and embracing the life you actually want while holding high standards for yourself.
SHIFT is for women who are done chasing impossible ideals but still want results. It’s for women ready to embrace this next chapter with self-acceptance, joy, and confidence—without guilt, without extremes, and without compromise.
Your best body isn’t a number. It’s the one you live in fully, celebrate, and show up for every single day—while still layering your life with the experiences, joy, and freedom you’ve been waiting for.
